We had our first Ridgeback in 1987 Wiljoe Sonny, who sadly died very young. A year later, Wiljoe Ollie joined our household. Ollie was famous for his terrible food obsessions – he would open the oven door and help himself, and if nothing was cooking he would open the freezer, pull out the drawers and just tuck in!  When Ollie was about 2 ½, our foundation bitch, Ch Sansilver Diamond Life of Kiromol (Kim), joined us from David & Linda Seaman of the Sansilver kennels.  We fell in love with Kim’s sire, Ch Sansilver Samuru, for his gentle nature and Kim inherited his fantastic temperament, which she passed down through the generations and which makes the hounds we have now an absolute delight to live with.

Following on from Kim, we have taken great care in selecting the right stud dogs to compliment our bitches, choosing only dogs with sound conformation, excelling in the free movement our own hounds are renowned for, and of course the most soundest of temperaments. We are proud to have maintained the type and temperament we believe is laid down in the Standard for the Rhodesian Ridgeback.

In July 2006, we lost our dear Aaron, Kiromol Khalfani – Kim’s son from our first litter and Bibi’s brother. Aaron was such a special dog, and although no longer with us, could not be left off the introduction to our hounds – he was such a huge part of our life. His sister Kirmol Kibibi (Bibi) lived on to be 13 years of age, and we lost her on 15th December 2007. That was the end of an era for us.

Odin came to us from a mating between Lulu's daughter Kiromol Kaisa and our Elvis. Khaos was another who just 'stayed' too!

So there you have it – the Kiromol Kennels. Well I say kennels, when they are not running free in the woods, our hounds quite like to relax on the leather sofas and occassionally venture out to a show or two....

We show or have shown all our hounds - some are now retired or semi retired of course! All adults are Crufts qualified for life, having gained their Kennel Club Stud Book number through winning CCs or Reserve CCs. Paul enjoys the showing rather than judging, but I enjoy judging this beautiful breed, and have now completed all my assessments and judged well over the required number of Ridgebacks to be able to judge at CC level. Almost there.  Enjoy visiting our site!
