August 2008

15th August saw us leave Potten End for Builth Wells and the Welsh Kennel Club Championship show. This was the first of 7 championship shows in 2 weeks, as we were off to Ireland to compete in the Munster Circuit following WKC. This was the first championship show for Archie, Kiromol Kubali, who is a son of Lulu and Elvis. He has been growing up in the heart of Wales with his owners Peter & Jo Hector-Jones. Archie won 3rd in Limit Dog at WKC which qualifies him for Crufts 2009 on his first attempt!

Khaos then won 1st in Junior Bitch and Luca won 3rd in Open Bitch. After the judging, we went off to catch the ferry from Birkenhead to Dublin - an overnight crossing which meant a few hours sleep in the cabin....or not! The dogs were fine and dandy tucked up in their cages and slept like babies! Once across the sea, the Irish weather was well and truly unkind to us for just about the whole week, we were wet and muddy every day but managed some good walks up the mountains and through the woods on the inbetween show days. Home for the week and a bit was with our friends Graham & Alison who own the Tibridarn Irish Wolfhounds.

We took 4 Ridgebacks with us who made themselves at home with 5 Wolfhounds, Denzil the cat and Terry the horse. Ally Muir came over too with Dodge and competed in 3 of the 5 shows over there, out of which Dodge came home with 2 reserve Green Stars, and a Reserve CACIB. Khaos won a 1st and a couple of 2nds in the Junior classes, Odin won 3 Open Dog classes, and Luca and Bubble both won a 3rd, 4th and two 2nds. We travelled home overnight on 25th August on a much smoother sailing thankfully! Friday 29th August was Birmingham Championship Show and was fantastic day for both Paul and myself and Ally Muir and Dodge - Dodge won 1st in Open Dog and the Dog CC which was his 3rd and qualifying CC and now makes him a Champion! Dodge has been a consistent winner this year and all 3 CCs have been won since mid May 2008, together with 2 Reserve CCs. Congratulations Ally, Scott & of course Dodge!

20th July 2008 - Milton Keynes & District Open Show

Ridgebacks were judged by well respected all round judge Mr Peter Jolley (Rubio) and it was great to see little (ha ha!) Bruce win Best Puppy followed by the Puppy Hound Group. Also Odin won Best of Breed and 2nd in the Hound Group. Well done Charlotte & Bruce!....and of course Odin!

28th June 2008 - Windsor Championship Show

A fantastic Windsor 2008 for the Kiromols! All round judge Mrs Pam Blay made it a memorable day for us all especially Ally Muir by awarding Dodge his second CC from winning 1st in Open Dog and then Best of Breed out of an entry of 139 Ridgebacks. The other Kiromols entered did well too, gaining:

Bruce, 1st Minor Puppy Dog, Amani, 1st Junior Dog, Beau 2nd Junior Dog, Odin 2nd Limit Dog, Khaos 2nd Junior Bitch, Oka VHC Graduate Bitch, Luca 4th Limit Bitch and Breeze (Dodge's sister) 1st in Open Bitch and the Reserve Bitch CC! Unfortunately, Dodge did not get to compete in the Hound Group due to an accident with a trolley containing 4 dogs from the Toy group which ran over his back foot and left him lame. However, congratulations Ally & Scott on Dodge gaining 2 CCs and 2 Reserve CCs within the last 2 months, what a fantastic achievement!

7th June 2008 - The Hound Club of East Anglia

Bruce wins Best Puppy, Khaos wins 2nd in Junior, Luca wins 1st in Post Graduate and Odin wins Best of Breed under Breed specialist judge Mrs Ann Chapman-Damms. Odin then goes on to win Reserve Best in Show under Hound specialist judge Mrs Pat Punter (Welcumen). Thank you to both judges!

31st May 2008 - Southern Counties Championship Show

Bruce wins 1st in Minor Puppy Dog and Luca wins 3rd in Limit Bitch under all round judge Vicki Cook.

26th May 2008 - Bath Championship Show

Little Bruce (Kiromol Kaylo) wins 1st in Minor Puppy Dog and Best Puppy Dog, thus qualifying for Crufts 2009 at his first ever show! Odin then wins 1st in Post Graduate Dog and Dodge wins 2nd in Open Dog then the Reserve Dog CC under breed specialist judge Mrs Ann Woodrow (Mirengo). The weather was rather less impressive than the wins!

16th May 2008 - Scottish Kennel Club Championship Show

An absolutely fantastic day for the Kiromol Hounds! Many congratulations to Scott & Ally Muir who won Open Dog, the Dog CC and Best of Breed with Dodge (Kiromol Kantigi of Kikeba). Dodge was then shortlisted to the fiinal 8 from a very strong hound group. Our own hounds didn't let us down either - Odin won 1st in Post Graduate Dog, Khaos 3rd in Junior Bitch, Luca 1st in Limit Bitch and her mum, Bubble, won Open Bitch and the Reserve Bitch CC. Thank you very much to Breed Specialist Judge Mrs Charlotte Strickland (Voortrekker) for making the very long journey up to Edinburgh worth every mile!

11th May 2008 - Birmingham National Championship Show

Khaos wins 1st in Junior Bitch under breed specialist judge Sue Campbell (Nyassa) and Dodge wins 1st in Open Dog then the Reserve CC! Congratulations to Dodge's owner Ally Muir, and thanks to our judge for a couple of fabulous wins today!

Beau wins 2nd in Junior dog, Odin wins 1st in Mid Limit Dog, Louie wins VHC in Limit Dog, Andra wins 3rd in Junior Bitch, Oka wins 3rd in Graduate Bitch, Delilah wins 2nd in Veteran Bitch and Breeze wins 2nd in Open Bitch and the Reserve Bitch CC! Odin wins first in Post Graduate Dog, Khaos wins second and her sister Andra wins third in Junior Bitch under well known breed specialist judge Mr Jack Selby (Eilack).

12th April 2008 - The Hound Association of Scotland Championship Show

A long journey up north was worth the trip for us when Odin took 2nd in Post Graduate Dog, Khaos took 1st in Junior Bitch and Luca won 1st in her first ever Limit Bitch class and then went on to take the Reserve Bitch CC under hound specialist judge Vivien Philips (Debucher). Dodge also won 3rd in his first ever Open Dog class too! Thank you for a wonderful day!

15th December 2007

We are sad to say our dear Bibi - Kiromol Kibibi - from our first litter back in 1994 went to sleep today and joins her brother Aaron, lifelong friend Kenzo who died 3 months before and her mum Kim at Rainbow Bridge at the grand old age of 13 years. Although still at home with 8 Ridgebacks, we have a huge hole which will never be filled.

17th July 2007 - East of England Championship Show

Odin wins 1st in Junior Dog under all round judge Pamela Mottershaw. Kiromol Kalou (Louie) also wins 1st in Special Yearling Dog. Odin also won 4th place in a very strong class in this show's heat of the Pet Plan Junior Dog Stakes under well respected all round judge Mr Ben Reynolds Frost. A big thank you to both judges.

2 days before his first birthday, Odin finishes his puppy career by winning Best Puppy under breed specialist judge Mrs Ann Chapman-Damms then wins the Hound Puppy Group under Tom Johnston (also a Ridgeback Breed Specialist judge). Odin then went on to win Best Puppy in Show under well known all round judge Mr Bert Easdon (Yakee). Many thanks to all 3 judges!
